Whitehead Riding School is proud to be one of the best riding facilities in Paulding County. With our beautiful setting, large indoor arena, great school horses, confident instructors, and many barn amenities We are a great place to learn to ride. We are a year round all weather facility. We offer a safe place to learn and grow. We are located on the Rountree Recreation grounds.

Whitehead Riding is dedicated to our students. We have something to offer you
whether your goals are showing, trail riding, ownership, or just wanting to
learn to ride.
Classes focus on fundamental skills including position, balance, control, and
overall rider confidence. We also teach how to prepare your horse to ride and
basic horse care. The traits not only make you a better rider but can also
spread into your every day life in the form of stress reduction, confidence, and
ability to focus. We focus Recreational Western Riding and also touch on Western
Pleasure, Trail Riding and Barrel Racing.

Classes are offered weekday late afternoons and evenings, with some day times
for younger students, adults, and home schoolers. Classes are not taught Friday,
Saturday, or Sunday.
Our regular youth riding lessons focus on students ages 8 and older. Classes are
45 minutes to 1 hour long. Students are separated by age and riding ability in
groups of 4 students to allow everyone to advance at a comfortable rate.
The cost of our regular lessons is $25 per lesson - payable at the first
lesson of the month.
For children 3-8 years old we offer a modified class that allows the child to
ride and learn the very basics of riding. The class has a shortened time span of
30 minutes to keep it interesting for young children. Children are taught thru
games and other fun activities. Generally these classes consist of 3-4 students
and have additional assistants for safety.
The cost of our lead line lessons is $20 per lessons - payable at the
first lesson of the month.
Lessons are great for adults as well. Adult classes are taught in small groups
and generally last 1 hour. Our horses have smooth gaits and easy going
personalities that make them perfect for adult riders.

FAQ:
What is a good age to start kids riding?
While we offer lessons for children under 8 years, we believe 8 years old or
older is the best age to start kids riding. At 8 a students attention span is
better, he or she is more physically and mentally developed and in general
students get more from riding at an older age.
What type of clothing and shoes should I wear?
Comfortable clothing should be worn. Riders should wear long pants, shorts
should not be worn. Shirts should be able to be tucked in. Hard-soled shoes or
riding boots should be worn - sneakers are permitted but not preferred. Hair
should be out of the face. Although we have a few helmets students can borrow we
recommend you make a trip to a tack store and get your own. Gloves are highly
recommended.
I'm an adult that has never been on a horse, do you have a program for me?
Yes, we offer lessons for adults beginners. We provide a program to get you
started comfortably. Our instructors are here to help you attain you riding
goals.
Do I have to own a horse to take lessons?
No. We have wonderful school horses of all types to teach you how to ride. If
you own your own horse you may take lessons off of it if you wish.
What other fun equestrian activities do you offer?
We offers summer and spring day camps for children. Rountree Recreation also
offers swimming lessons, swimming parties, and a competitive swim team - check

Can my friends and I come out and rent horses to go on a trail ride?
No. We offer trail ride lessons for students enrolled in our lesson program. We
do not offer rentals. We take this sport very seriously and believe that each
person needs proper instruction for their safety and the safety of our horses.
Are classes canceled due to poor weather?
Classes are not canceled due to poor weather because we hold classes in an
indoor arena. If the weather is thundering or lighting we will hold a ground
work lesson.
Do riders receive a refund if they miss a class due to illness or a schedule
conflict?
No refund is given to riders who miss a lesson. Make up lessons are only offered
with 48 hours notice that a student will miss the class.
